Job evaluation

In the course of a job evaluation, every job is assigned a relative value in the organisation and a hierarchy of jobs is established. The evaluation is based on the consideration of the organisational structure, the complexity of the position in the company, and the requirements to the person doing the job. Jobs are evaluated by using two main methods:

  1. Classification of jobs into families (Fontes Job Description Catalogue).
  2. Analytical job evaluation (Fontes EvaluationMethod for Intellectual and Physical Jobs), which was developed by Fontes according to the principles recommended by the International Labour Organisation.

Job evaluation creates the possibility to compare jobs both within the organisation and with similar jobs on the market. Comparability ensures that compensation is determined according to the internal fairness of salaries and competitiveness on the salary market.

The outcome of the evaluation is an objective basis for creating or developing further a compensation system of the organisation.
