Talent review

The talent review is a review based on the simple and clear rules of the potential of existing employees by executives, management, or owners. The objective is to determine whether the available people can fulfil the strategic objectives that have been set and achieve results.

  • Can we meet the planned objectives with these people?
  • To what extent does the achieving or non-achieving of objectives depend on people?
  • What talents does the team still require? What talent is the present team lacking?

The talent review forms the basis for further management decisions

Value:

  • Instant overview of the talent resource.
  • Efficient since it usually takes from a few hours to one day.
  • The debate focuses on the actual value of people to the organisation and not the attitude that “everybody is a great person”.
  • Participation of an external consultant guarantees objective assessment as all key executives are assessed by the same criteria. Moreover, a consultant cannot be influenced by in-house power games and “history” that can easily affect the outcome of such an assessment.
  • Gives a foundation for making further management decisions (who to develop, whose motivation should be improved, who should be switched to another position, who has no value for the company, which people should be hired).
  • Creates a basis for ensuring that investments in human resources pay off (no development or training to people with low potential; incentives for people who create value and must become committed; making redundant those who generate costs instead of income).
