Who are the Fontes Well-Being Maps intended for?

The Fontes Well-Being Maps are a tool primarily intended for an organisation’s management and/or HR manager to analyse the organisation’s well-being and develop a future action plan. The questions on the cards are structured so that the answers must apply to all employees; therefore, answering the questions may require preliminary work to ascertain the opinions of specific employee groups on the relevant topics. If necessary and feasible, focus groups of employees can be formed to obtain more detailed input; these groups will sort the cards and, through the resulting discussion, provide important information to management.

What is the result of sorting the cards?

Once all cards have been distributed among the response cards, a comprehensive picture of the current state of workplace well-being in your organisation emerges.

  • Cards with a “Yes” response indicate the strengths and value propositions of workplace well-being in your organisation.
  • Cards with “No” responses point to bottlenecks or risks that require attention and resolution.
  • Cards with “Don’t Know” and “Somewhat” responses highlight blind spots—areas that should be examined more closely to gain a clear overview.

By sorting the cards, you’ll gain a structured overview of your organisation’s strengths, weaknesses, and the steps needed to create a healthier and more productive work environment.

Feedback

  • "The biggest surprise was how simple and genuine the process turned out to be—even complex issues seemed solvable because everyone had the chance to share their perspective. Based on the workshop discussions, we plan to prepare an overview for management, which will allow us to establish a more concrete action plan—one that was truly driven by the team’s collective energy and contributions!"

  • "Our experience with well-being maps was very positive. Together with the HR manager, we analysed employee well-being across the entire organisation to identify opportunities for improvement. In addition, I conducted a well-being mapping workshop with one of our units, which identified several important insights and ideas for improving the work environment. The well-being maps offered a systematic and thorough approach that is easy to implement in practice."

It depends on how many people answer the questions and how long the discussions on certain topics last. We recommend setting aside about 1–1.5 hours for the first session, and if there are any unanswered questions, you can set up the next round of discussion after the first one, if necessary. You can always leave the card sorting incomplete and return to the topic later.

Well-being cards are also available in English.

Fontese Well-Being Cards are a versatile tool that can be used in a variety of situations. Individual conversations with employees (the cards can be used to structure one-on-one conversations to assess an employee’s well-being and development needs). Discussions on development strategies (the cards are suitable for working with larger groups of employees; using multiple decks of cards at once helps create a comprehensive overview of the organisation’s well-being). Focus group method (the cards can be used to conduct targeted discussions on specific well-being topics, involving different groups of employees). Independent use or consultant support (the card-laying process can be done independently or under the guidance of a Fontese consultant).
